A Timeless KITCHEN Refresh
The Scope:
Full Service Interior Design
The intent:
The client’s 2007 kitchen was ready for a refresh, transitioning from its original Mediterranean style with dark wood cabinets and golden granite countertops to a more timeless and functional design.
the Setting:
A Single Family home in Edwards, CO
the Mood:
Timeless, durable and easy to clean.
The Opportunity:
The goal was to create a space that feels updated yet enduring, with a focus on durability, ease of maintenance, and preserving the existing granite countertops by thoughtfully incorporating them into the new aesthetic.

The Resolution:
To highlight the golden granite countertops as the focal point, we selected a backsplash that accentuated the darker tones while subtly toning down the gold. A ceramic tile from Splendours in a slate gray proved to be the perfect choice, offering a soft variation in tone without appearing overly busy. This darker hue also met the clients' desire for a low-maintenance option that hides dirt, ideal for their love of cooking.
The existing knotty alder cabinets were in excellent condition, so instead of replacing them, we opted for a refresh. A skilled painter filled and sanded the knots and imperfections to achieve a smooth finish before painting them Benjamin Moore Plymouth Rock. This shade paired beautifully with the existing walls in Sail Cloth, creating a cohesive and timeless palette. To complete the transformation, we updated the hardware to sleek matte black, adding a modern touch that tied the entire design together.
