Krista's story

I’ve always appreciated the depth that heritage brings to a space as a beautifully unique element in design.

Heirloom: something of value handed down through generations.

Whether you meet them at the beginning, middle or far into their journey, heirlooms are thoughtfully crafted to withstand the test of time.

Here’s the thing

We have my grandmother's sewing machine to thank.

As I packed for our move from Los Angeles to the Vail Valley, the thought crossed my mind of dumping my grandmother’s 1950s Singer sewing machine. It was built into a cabinet that weighed over 75lbs—but I kept it.

Today that sewing machine sits in my office and serves as a drafting desk, a craft table and a favorite story to tell guests that visit our home. Not only does its purpose live on, but it’s now part of my story. And at the heart of it all, curating a space to reflect one’s story is what inspires my pursuit of interior design.

Krista saw the beauty in my grandmother’s old steamer trunk and turned it into the most gorgeous side table in our living room.  Not only is it unique to our family’s heritage but we feel good about giving it another life vs. adding to the landfill.
